BRCGS Audits

Safeguard your food supply chain

We audit sites worldwide against internationally recognised food safety standards

How to get BRCGS Food certified?

BRCGS performs performance reviews of its certification bodies every 6 months.  Strict rules are laid down which detail the responsibilities of the certification body and auditors.

During these performance reviews, five key areas are reviewed:

  • Quality of written audit reports
  • Compliance to protocols
  • Auditor registration and compliance training, experience and competence requirements
  • Timeliness of audit data uploaded to the BRCGS Directory
  • Communication with the BRCGS compliance team

By achieving BRCGS Certification, your company will benefit from:

  • Satisfying the HACCP requirement of your retailer and food service customers
  • Ensure compliance to legal obligations
  • Enhanced food safety and management systems
  • Increased consumer confidence in your products
  • Boost your brand and corporate image
  • Expanded presence in the market to new and prospective clients

  • Alignment with new legislation
  • Focus on the most common non-conformances related to fabrication and hygiene (in section 4), food safety culture (requirement1.1.2), identification of hazards (requirement 2.7.1)
  • More clarifications on the requirements related to Food Safety culture, supplier approval, environmental monitoring, business continuity plans, authenticity, security and defense
  • Reintroduction of the 2-part audit for unannounced audits
  • Changes to the audit window and number of black-out days for sites on the Voluntary unannounced scheme

All food sites currently certificated to Issue 8 of the BRCGS Food standard will have their next audit against BRCGS Issue 9, if their audit window falls after this date.
