Analysis of bulk samples for the presence of asbestos as defined by The Control of Asbestos Regulations (2012). The minerals are: Chrysotile (white), Crocidolite (blue), Amosite (brown), Tremolite, Actinolite & Anthophyllite.
After clean up, the fibres are placed in a suitable refractive index fluid and characteristic properties determined using polarised light microscopy. The method is based on the method described in HSE guide HSG248; ‘Asbestos: The analysts’ guide for sampling, analysis and clearance procedures, Appendix 2’ (Issued 2005), ISBN 0-7176-2875
