Public Analyst Service
Eurofins Public Analyst Service supports Local Authority Trading Standards and Environmental Health Departments throughout the UK to enforce the provisions of the Food Safety Act and supplementary Regulations. We provide analytical services and expert opinion on the results obtained and offer regional coverage providing local service.
Samples may be analysed for compliance with one or more of the following:
- Compositional regulations e.g. Meat products
- Additive regulations e.g. Colours in food
- Contaminants regulations e.g. Aflatoxins
- Labelling regulations
- Imported food controls
- Food authenticity
- Investigation of food complaints
We are also Agricultural Analysts appointed under the provisions of the Agriculture Act to carry out analysis of fertilisers and feeding stuffs and provide expert opinion on the results obtained.
Our fully accredited Consumer Products Laboratory also assists with the testing of consumer goods for compliance with safety legislation.
The development of analytical methods and technology, ever more complex legislation and development of novel sources of food requires Public Analyst laboratories to have the most accurate and up-to-date equipment operated by highly trained professional staff.
Eurofins continues to create specialist centres of excellence with the highest level of accreditation, quality and the resources to meet these demands, so as to provide our Local Authorities with access to state of the art analytical methods and consultancy advice throughout the world.
Our laboratory services are shared with our commercial food and feed laboratories to ensure consistency in test methods and economies of scale but Eurofins Public Analyst service is large enough to avoid any potential conflict of interest. Additionally, the advice provided by Public Analysts is impartial, based on legislation and analytical test results.
