To ensure continuity of service and protect sample integrity during the festive period, we kindly ask all customers to plan their sampling and submissions in advance. Due to seasonal closures and reduced collection schedules, it is especially important to adhere to the deadlines below to avoid delays or compromised results.
Please view below and where relevant follow the download links for details of our holiday schedule opening hours and sample drop-off/collection times relevant to you. Please note there are three sections to cover different geographies and services.
England, Scotland & Wales (GB) | Water Hygiene Testing
Please be advised of our operational schedule over the Christmas and New Year period. Sample drop-off locations will be closed during this time, and our laboratories will be closed on 24th, 25th, 26th December and 1st January (with an additional closure on 2nd January for our Livingston laboratory).
However, samples may be delivered directly to our water laboratories on the dates listed below. Drop-offs will be accepted until 2:00pm, except on New Year’s Eve, when the final drop-off time will be 12:00pm and microbiological samples only will be accepted.

Tuesday 16th December 2025 - Final day to submit samples requiring BOD or subcontracted analysis including (but not limited to): fats, oil and grease, TOC, bromide, sulphide, TPH (hydrocarbons), cyanide, pesticides, total nitrogen, surfactants, Cryptosporidium and algae

Monday 22nd December 2025 – Final day for collection from drop-off points

Monday 5th January 2026 – Sample drop-offs locations reopen

Minimal Manning urgent samples only* - samples on these days must be booked in prior. The cut-off date to book samples in is Friday 12th December 2025. Please email us to book samples in

We will endeavour to test all samples within stability, however if submitted past cut-off dates, samples will be stored until they can be processed which may impact stability

Please note that due to opening times over Christmas, it may not be possible to test all shelf- life samples due on December 25th and 26th of December and 1st and 2nd of January. In all cases we will communicate any alterations to test date and ensure that these are tested within 24 hours of the due date. For more information, please contact our customer services team.

Please also note that the last date for submission of samples which require subcontracted testing to our Eurofins European network of laboratories is Wednesday 17th December.

Sheffield Laboratory (GB) | Healthcare Facilities Testing | Orange box
To protect the integrity of your samples and ensure timely delivery to our Sheffield laboratory, please note the following operational measures.
Orange Box sample collection requirements

Sampling should commence no earlier than 8:00am
-
Orange Boxes must be ready for collection by 1:00pm
This schedule enables us to prioritise the use of our Eurofins drivers rather than third-party couriers, who experience significant delays during December. Where our own drivers cannot be used, we are unable to guarantee the return time to the Sheffield laboratory, which may impact sample stability and result validity.
Festive period collection schedule

Collections will continue as normal week commencing 15 December

The last day drop-off locations can be accessed will be Monday 22nd December, and will reopen Monday 5th January

There will be no Orange Box collections on: 24, 25, 26, 31 December and 1 January

If your usual collection falls on one of these days, please respond to this email to discuss. Please ensure your samples are taken on the appropriate day to ensure they are returned to the lab within stability
