Mental Health Awareness Week 2019

Monday 13th - Sunday 19th May will mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2019, a week which is being hosted by the Mental Health Foundation and is aimed at raising awareness about mental health topics such as stress, loneliness, alcohol and drug misuse.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, 74% of UK adults have felt so stressed at some point in the last year, that they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope. Research has also shown that addiction and dependency are often linked to mental health problems.

With poor mental health and addiction both being issues that are highly prevalent in the world we live in today, what is your business doing to support your employees and ensure their safety and health?

Do you have adequate processes and procedures in place to safeguard your employees’ health and the potential consequences poor mental health can bring?

It is vital that you are aware of the internal and external pressures that could potentially cause your staff to experience issues with their mental health and that the consequences of this can include the misuse of illegal substances and alcohol, in the workplace . endangering the employee themselves, other members of staff and even customers. There is also huge potential for irreparable damage to a business’s reputation.

Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing and policies enable you to identify those employees that are perhaps struggling and get them the support they need, helping you to maintain a happy and healthy workforce that is productive and effective.
