EN 62115:2005+A1:2011+A2:2011 has now been published in the Official Journal of the EU (OJEU). This standard gives presumption of conformity to the revised TSD Annex II, Section IV except for two unresolved aspects:

  • point 2 for toys for connection to a computer, console, monitor screen or other audio-video equipment and
  • point 7 for toys of such a construction that the requirements for the Functional Safety

Companies will need to assess products to the above standard plus because this means there will be no Functional Safety (EMF) until the second version is finalised, EN 62233 EMF for Household Appliances can be used, however there will be no reference in EN 62115 to this standard. In addition assessment to the Final draft for versions of the AB standard mentioned below would be recommended.

EN 62115 (A11 draft AB) - The two exemptions will be discussed further to resolve the conflicts at the next European Normal working group meeting in September. It is hoped these two points plus the draft AB will be approved so it can be published and harmonised later this year.
