Nutritional Supplements Testing

Contact us

A nutritional supplement is a measured-dose product that provides concentrated nutrients or other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect to complement the normal diet.

Nutritional supplements demand precise compositional and quality data; from vitamins; minerals and amino acids to botanicals and other bioactives. Brands need verified content values to support safe products; lawful labels and credible claims across the UK and EU.

Eurofins Food Testing UK Ltd, working with specialist Eurofins competence centres across Europe, provides analytical testing and consultancy for food supplements. We quantify actives, verify dose uniformity, and can assess quality through targeted contaminant and adulteration checks.

Why test supplements

Regulatory and labelling support*

At EU level, food supplements are governed mainly by Directive 2002/46/EC for vitamins and minerals (permitted forms and specific labelling), alongside Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 for nutrition labelling and Regulation (EC) 1924/2006 for claims.

In Great Britain, these provisions are retained in domestic law via the UK Food Supplements Regulations and retained EU law; Northern Ireland continues to apply EU rules under the Windsor Framework.

Our nutritional supplement testing and consultancy services can help you achieve compliance with UK and EU labelling rules for supplements.
