UK and EU baseline regulations for contaminant and residue testing include*

• Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/915 (Contaminants Regulation)
  
  • The UK retained Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 post Brexit under the EU (Withdrawal) Act 2018. While the UK has not formally adopted Regulation (EU) 2023/915, it continues to enforce maximum levels for contaminants through retained EU law and domestic regulations
• Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council (food Contact Materials) 
  • The UK has retained this regulation post-Brexit, with amendments made to address references to EU institutions and procedures
• Commission Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 (Food Contact Materials from Plastics)
  • The UK has retained this regulation, and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) provides guidance on approved additives and E numbers applicable within the UK
• Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council (Food Additives)
  • The UK has retained this regulation, and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) provides guidance on approved additives and E numbers applicable within the UK
• Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/2158 (Benchmark Levels Acrylamide)
  • The UK has retained this regulation, and it continues to be enforced by relevant food authorities
• Recommendation (EU) 2022/495 (Monitoring Furan and Alkylfurans)
  • UK may choose to conduct similar monitoring, but there is no direct equivalent regulation mandating such action
• EFSA opinion regarding MOAH in food
  • The UK's Committee on Toxicity (COT) has reviewed EFSA's opinion and provides guidance on MOAH, but there is no specific UK regulation solely addressing MOAH in food
• German Contaminants Regulation (KmV); sets specific maximum limits for certain contaminants and is relevant to manufactures placing food on the German market
• German Technical Excipients Regulation (THV); related to food processing relevant to manufactures placing food on the German market
