Comparative Image Analysis
Comparative analysis is a detailed process of comparison to determine whether or not an object depicted on imagery is the same as an object identified by an investigating or defence team.
Items for comparison
The list of items that can and have been compared is endless, but in the main, these types of comparison relate to identification. For example, items of clothing and/or footwear worn by a person on CCTV that correspond with items recovered from a suspect.
There are however, occasions where unique or distinctive marks can be seen on imagery that may support the view that two items are one and the same, with a commensurately greater weight of evidence.
