An extension to Eurofins crime fighting services
7th October 2009
Eurofins, is pleased to announce the extension of its contract with The Forensic Science Service® (FSS) for a further two years. Under the terms of the agreement, Eurofins will continue to provide the FSS with forensic drug analysis in hair and nails and support the development of this innovative forensic method with Police forces in the UK.
Eurofins has supported the FSS in many high profile cases during the course of the contract, most notably with the Shannon Mathews case in early 2008 (kidnap and false imprisonment) This case showed the importance of hair analysis in drug facilitated crime detection.
Eurofins forensic toxicology laboratories are relied upon by criminal justice organisations throughout Europe and have the widest range of analytical methods for the rapid detection of both commonly abused drugs to the detection of one-off or persistent trace chemicals from a variety of samples.
Emma Millican, Eurofins UK Forensic Director, commented “We are very pleased that the FSS has decided to extent the contract and this demonstrates both the increasing importance of hair analysis in criminal investigations and Eurofins high levels of analytical service and quality.
