Revisions to the RoHS Directive
RoHS 2 - 2011/65/EU
Revisions to the RoHS Directive comes into force on 3rd January 2013. Changes within the new Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive (2011/65/EU), published on the 1st of July 2011, will have a significant impact on all electronic products that are currently covered under the pre-existing RoHS Directive, while expanding the scope of covered products in a transitional timetable.
Key Points in brief:
- The scope of the Directive will change (with a transition period) to cover all electrical products not just those with a primary electrical function
- Technical Documentation is now required
- A Declaration of Conformity will be required
- A conformity assessment is required
- CE marking will be required
- The restricted substances have not changed but will be reviewed in 2014
- Restricted substance exemptions will be reviewed in 2015
