New Eurofins Equipment Reduces Elements Testing Time

As part of Eurofins Food Testing UK's move to its new state-of-the-art laboratories at the i54 Business Park, Wolverhampton, the company has made significant investment in sophisticated new testing equipment designed to reduce analysis time for elements from five minutes to one minute.

The two ICP OES (Inductively coupled optical emission spectrometer) systems installed at the new Eurofins site will be used to determine concentrations of a wide range of elements in solution. The system is so sensitive that it reduces interference from sample matrices, meaning faster and more flexible determination of food, feed and environmental samples.

Andrew Scott, Inorganics Business Unit Manager, at Eurofins Food Testing UK said:

"Reducing analysis time from five minutes down to just one minute significantly increases the volume of elements testing that can be done in the laboratory. This combined with the principles of 'lean working' which have been applied throughout our new laboratory at i54 means that we are able to efficiently handle large numbers of tests in an efficient, cost effective and accurate manner."
