Eurofins focuses its bioanalyticial services in the fast growing global food, pharmaceutical and environmental testing markets. The Company believes that by being the market number one or number two in each market in which it operates and by providing high-quality, rapid solutions for our customers, with the latest technology, then it will succeed in its long-term goal to be the world leader in the bioanalytical testing market. With an objective of organic growth of 10% per annum in the medium term Eurofins believes that it is exceeding the growth rate of each of these markets.

Food and Feed

Eurofins considers itself to be the world leader in the food and feed testing market, estimated to be worth around €1.5 billion per annum. The Group has particular expertise in the fields of dioxin testing (no.1 at 15,000 samples per year), pesticides, mycotoxins, allergens and vitamins.

Key drivers in this market are increasing awareness and demands from consumers for safe and good quality food, subsequent food scares and the globalisation of the food production market.

Eurofins has food testing labs in Europe, the US, South America and Asia. The Group is the market leader in Europe, in particular in Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia, France and the UK.

This part of the business currently represents approximately 50% of Group turnover.

Pharmaceuticals

Eurofins estimates the size of the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology testing market to be approximately €5 billion. Eurofins estimates that it is in the top 10 companies worldwide in this global market.

The key driver in this market is the outsourcing of non-core activities by the global pharmaceutical giants, who are able to work with trusted suppliers or licensees in the field of R&D without having to divert resources themselves. There is also continual demand for even expensive drugs in order to enhance people’s quality of life.

Eurofins has Central Laboratories in the Netherlands, France, the USA and Singapore in addition to the wide range of specialist labs in Europe, North America and Asia. In addition the Group works with affiliates in Brazil, South Africa, Australia, China and Japan.

Eurofins generates around 30% of annual Group turnover from the Pharma market.

Environment

The global environmental market is estimated to be worth approximately €4 billion per annum worldwide and Eurofins is in the top 5 companies in this market. The Group is no. 1 in Europe, in particular in Benelux and Scandinavia and is no.2 in France and Germany. It is a mostly local market.

The main drivers in the Environmental market are consumer demand for a clean and healthy environment (the air we breathe, the water we drink) and also the outsourcing of this business to specialists like Eurofins.

Eurofins has labs and sales offices throughout Europe.

Approximately 20% of Group revenues are derived from the Environmental market.
