BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 7

The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety was first published in 1998 and is now in its 7th issue. Covered in this globally established standard, is a framework to manage product safety, integrity, legality and quality, and the operational controls for these criteria, in the food and food ingredient manufacturing, processing and packing industry.

Why use this standard?

Customer confidence - The BRC Global Standard will ensure that your customers have confidence in your production programmes and supply chain management.

Worldwide expertise - All of our audits are carried out by a global network of highly trained certification bodies and training partners.

Achievable and cost effective - Global recognition reduces the need for duplicate audits.

Support - We have an established, highly experienced BRC Technical Team that provides support and is available to answer any technical question.

In addition to the core standard a range of Additional Modules have been developed that can be added to the normal audit process. This offers some great customer advantages:

  • reduce audit burden (and therefore cost) by including requirements that historically needed a separate audit (for example, 2nd party audits)
  • meet specific geographic or customer needs, especially when a specifier wants additional requirements to complement Issue 7
  • apply to particular types of operation or look in greater detail at a particular market concern (gluten free, FSMA or organisational food safety culture).
Additional Module 8: Traded Goods
Additional Module 9: Management of Food Materials for Animal Feed
Additional Module 10: Global G.A.P. Chain of Custody
Additional Module 11: Meat Supply Chain Assurance
Additional Module 12: Association of European Coeliac Societies (AOECS)
Additional Module 13: Food Safety Culture Module
Additional Module 15: Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
